Iolite and Pearl Necklace and Earrings

Iolite drops are hand-knotted with gold 6-7mm freshwater potato pearls and crystal accents. The iolite is wrapped with ¹⁴⁄₂₀ gold-filled wire and accented with citrine. The clasp is 22kt vermeil, with ¹⁴⁄₂₀ gold-filled findings.

Iolite is also called dichroite ('two-colored rock' in Greek) because it shows different colors under polarized light or when viewed from different angles. This property is called pleochroism. Iolite is also called the Viking’s Compass because it can used to find the direction of the sun on overcast days.
