Antique Tuareg coin-silver pendant is surrounded with vintage Bohemian glass padre beads, green garnets and moldovite beads. Moldovite is a tektite found only in Moldova from a meteor strike 400 million years ago. They are hand-knotted with skull ☠ cross-bone Bohemian lampwork glass beads. Bali silver rondelles and sterling silver findings and clasp.

Length: 26 inches — hangs at 34 inches

Though their name suggests a European origin, originally padre beads were manufactured in China and historically referred to as "Peking beads". They are made using a mandrel-wound technique where molten glass is wrapped around a metal rod. Similar styles were later replicated by Venetian and Dutch bead makers. The name "padre" (meaning "father" in Spanish) came from the Spanish missionaries, priests, and monks who carried and wore them on rosaries or distributed them during colonial and Christianization missions in the Americas and Africa.
